New Live Action Disney Cinderella Teaser Trailer And Poster

New Live Action Disney Cinderella
Teaser Trailer And Poster

I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming live-action Maleficent! The idea of the story of “Sleeping Beauty” in a live-action film is just so exciting and I’m thrilled to have another upcoming live-action fairytale.

“Cinderella” is one of my very favorite childhood movies. I’m pretty sure that’s one of the main reasons why I’m such a dreamer!

Here are some official details on the upcoming film from Walt Disney Studios:

The story of “Cinderella” follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family.

Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.” She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her.

And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress.

But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham-Carter) steps forward and – armed with a pumpkin and a few mice – changes Cinderella’s life forever.

This live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale, “Cinderella” brings to life the timeless images from Disney’s 1950 animated masterpiece as fully-realized characters in a visually dazzling spectacle for a whole new generation.

I’m so excited! Check out this just released trailer and you’ll be excited too!

“Cinderella” will be released through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on March 13, 2015.

Did YOU See Maleficent?!

Did YOU See Maleficent?!

As I was teaching a ballet class this week one of my students burst out with, “Did you see Maleficent!” To which I was quite happy to respond with,”YES! And I get to blog about it!” So put your curly horns on people, and here we go!

Last Sunday during the Grammy Awards®, Disney had a surprise for its fans: a super awesome sneak peek at its upcoming film, Maleficent. Everyone watched on the edge of their couch cushions as this familiar villain took on a new face.   Maleficent, played by Angelina Jolie, is a dark fantasy prequel to Sleeping Beauty, where we are supposed to learn more about this villain’s side of the story than we did before.  The film will be released to theaters May 30th, 2014. If you missed it the first time, or just want to view it for the 32nd time, here is the film tidbit that everyone is talking about:

Yah, THAT’S what we are ALL talking about! Consider yourself officially informed. Now, I will give you just a minute to click to your Google calendars and write “Maleficent date night” on May 30th. ……….. Ok, back!

So were you intrigued by the sneak peek’s background music? Me too! Good news! In an effort to increase our anticipation (which is totally working btw), Disney has also released the Lana Del Ray’s rendition of “Once Upon a Dream” featured as a free download on Google Play through Monday, February 3rd.

In general, sneak peeks and trailers of all kinds seem to get my head spinning with questions, and Maleficent is no exception… starting with, Angela Jolie’s makeup artistry. To be honest with you, my first reaction was, “Holy Cheekbones, Batman!” But really, the whole costume, makeup included, is REALLY fabulous. But it got me thinking about the original Maleficent. Wasn’t her face a shade of green in Disney’s 1959 movie? Will we get to see her skin turn green? Or is this pale but not green face just the modern interpretation of her character?

Speaking of which, I love, love, love, the artistic imagery themes that have been chosen. The images are very much rooted in the original style of Sleeping Beauty, paying a deep respect to its mastermind, Eyvind Earle. But at the same time, a fresh interpretation is given as well. I love especially the green, wispy evil magic visuals. Well done director, Robert Stromberg. This will be a wildly artistic movie and likely an amazing experience to watch.

Is it May 30th yet?

What was your favorite part of the sneak peek?

Saving Mr. Banks Practically Perfect Preview

Saving Mr. Banks Practically Perfect Preview

I always get so excited when the Disney Parks Blog has a meet-up and when I saw their announcement for the “Saving Mr. Banks Practically Perfect Preview” – I wanted to be a part of it so badly!! Needless to say, our RSVP for the event was accepted and the preview was this past weekend! We checked in at the front entrance of Disney’s Hollywood Studios promptly at 8:00 p.m. and headed straight for the Premiere Theater. I didn’t even know there was a theater back there! So special! Magic is always popping up where you’d least expect it at Walt Disney World!

We arrived just a bit early and got all checked in with time to stop and take in all the glory of The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. If you haven’t seen this epic display of twinkling and sparkling lights, well…you’ve just got to do it! It’s the most breathtaking display of Christmas lights you’ll probably ever see!

Anywhoo…I have been ridiculously excited to see “Saving Mr. Banks” since I first saw the previews for it months ago. I absolutely love movies that tell the back stories of other movies. Think how “Monster’s University” told the back story of “Monster’s, Inc.” – just love it! Mary Poppins happens to be one of my all-time favorite childhood movies. So excited!!

As we entered the theater, I saw some familiar faces of the Disney Parks Blog and took a few moments to catch up with them. It’s always so fun that everyone is so personable and friendly! There were cute little red and white striped boxes of popcorn and drinks available, so we all grabbed some and took our seats.

Until now, the back story of how P.L. Travers’ “Mary Poppins” made it to the big screen has been untold. Emma Thompson did a fantastic job of portraying the uncompromising author of her beloved, magical nanny with absolutely no intention of releasing the rights to her story.

As Walt Disney, played by Tom Hanks, pulls out all the stops to woo Travers to grant him the rights to her story, she becomes increasingly unwilling to budge. She even stated that “Mary Poppins DOES NOT SING” as the Sherman Brothers come up with catchy tunes to tell the story and present them to her. We watched quietly and got teary-eyed, over and over as this remarkable story was told. What I found especially enjoyable was watching Walt as he studied Travers and ultimately figured out a way to reach her. He was an amazing man, as we all know, and if you are a fan of Walt Disney, you will absolutely love this movie as I did.

We had a big treat waiting for us after the preview, in Disney Parks Blog meet-up style! There were two fabulous photo opportunities where we could take pictures with Mary Poppins and one of the beloved penguins and a second with Bert and a couple of the chimney sweeps! The Characters mingled with us as we waited in line to see them keeping us entertained all the while. My daughter even danced with a penguin!

Even though I want to tell you ALL the details about this incredible film, I’m not going to spoil it for you. You simply must go see “Saving Mr. Banks” for yourself on December 20, 2013 when it opens in theaters everywhere! You’ll just love it!

Disney’s Frozen Coming To Theatres In November!

One of my favorite things to do on Thanksgiving Day is to go see a brand new movie with my family while the turkey is baking away. We get up in the morning and get everything ready to go and head off to see an early matinee. By the time we get home, the entire house smells AMAZING!!

This year, I’m really looking forward to seeing Disney’s Frozen! It looks like a really fun story line as we’ve all come to expect from Disney. I watched the newest trailer this morning and I just have to share it with you all because it really made me laugh! Take a peek…

Here is the official info from Walt Disney Studios directly:

Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind “Tangled” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” presents “Frozen,” a stunning big-screen comedy adventure. Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on
an epic journey — teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf (voice of Josh Gad), Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.

The film is directed by Chris Buck (“Tarzan,” “Surf’s Up”) and Jennifer Lee (screenwriter, “Wreck-It Ralph”), who also wrote the screenplay. It is produced by Peter Del Vecho (“Winnie the Pooh,” “The Princess and the Frog”). Featuring original songs from Tony® winner Robert Lopez (“The Book of Mormon,” “Avenue Q”) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (“In Transit,” “Winnie the Pooh”), and an original score by Christophe Beck (“The Muppets,”Oscar®-winning short “Paperman”), “Frozen” hits theaters in 3D on Nov. 27, 2013.

Love the First Movie Poster for Saving Mr. Banks!!

For those of you who haven’t seen the new trailer for the film, I thought I’d tuck that in too! I’m insanely excited for this movie!!

For those of you wondering what the movie is about, here is the official boilerplate:

Two-time Academy Award®–winner Emma Thompson and fellow double Oscar®-winner Tom Hanks topline Disney’s “Saving Mr. Banks,” inspired by the extraordinary, untold backstory of how Disney’s classic “Mary Poppins” made it to the screen.

When Walt Disney’s daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers’ “Mary Poppins,” he made them a promise—one that he didn’t realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney’s plans for the adaptation.

For those two short weeks in 1961, Walt Disney pulls out all the stops. Armed with imaginative storyboards and chirpy songs from the talented Sherman brothers, Walt launches an all-out onslaught on P.L. Travers, but the prickly author doesn’t budge. He soon begins to watch helplessly as Travers becomes increasingly immovable and the rights begin to move further away from his grasp.

It is only when he reaches into his own childhood that Walt discovers the truth about the ghosts that haunt her, and together they set Mary Poppins free to ultimately make one of the most endearing films in cinematic history.

Disney presents “Saving Mr. Banks,” directed by John Lee Hancock, produced by Alison Owen, Ian Collie and Philip Steuer, and written by Kelly Marcel and Sue Smith. Executive producers are Paul Trijbits, Andrew Mason, Troy Lum and Christine Langan.
