Happy Birthday, Mickey Mouse!

Since today is Mickey’s special day, I thought I’d share some photos over the years of our family meeting The Big Cheese! Wow, the kids have grown up so quickly! It seems just yesterday that we met Mickey Mouse at his house in ToonTown at the Disneyland Resort!

Happy Birthday, Mickey Mouse!

Amazing Candy Apples At Goofy’s Candy Company

Whenever my family visits the Walt Disney World Resort, one of our favorite things to do is to check out the great candy apples. Each one is an amazing work of art. You all should know, Minnie Mouse is my FAVORITE character and I just love the classic way the Candy Artists have done up her apple…all sparkly!

Did you know that these apples come in designs of lots of your favorite Disney Characters depending on which candy shop you go in? My daughter spotted a Cheshire Cat apple on our last visit! We’ve even spotted some of the Princesses. With more than a dozen different apple selections that change throughout the seasons, everyone is sure to find something to satisfy that sweet tooth. I think the Goofy one is pretty awesome…notice his Ears?

When you visit Goofy’s Candy Company at Downtown Disney, you can actually watch the Candy Artists creating these masterpieces right there! Great attention is paid to every detail, making it really hard to decide which one to buy!

We’ve never actually taken the plunge and purchased one, but I noticed on my last visit that you can request to have them sliced! We may just get one on our next trip! I wouldn’t mind walking around munching on a freshly made, beautiful candy apple!

How fun would it be to make a very special Mickey apple at home? Well, you’re in luck because today, I’m sharing the instructions so you can try it! Have fun! [Click each image to view it larger]

Valentine’s Day Surprise from the Disney Florist!

I just love that as soon as I think I’ve seen all the magic Disney has to offer, they come up with something new and amazing! I was lucky enough to go on a backstage tour of the Disney Events Group just before Halloween last year and I just love all the magical things I saw being created there! It’s pretty amazing that the Dream Makers create such giant magic in such a tiny location!

Well, folks, Valentine’s Day is no different! Check out this new, fun Valentine creation for your children that includes an invitation to surprise Mickey or Minnie Mouse at the Town Square Theatre on Main Street USA along with an extra Valentine for your child to decorate and present to The Mouse of choice IN-PERSON!! How cool is that?

All of this fun did made me think a little bit…wouldn’t this be fun for the kid-at-heart too? Seriously. I feel like I turn five the minute I arrive on Walt Disney World property and I would LOVE to bring a Valentine to Mickey Mouse…and maybe share those gorgeous heart-shaped rice krispie treats with my hubby! I know that not everyone travels with kids and would surely get a kick out of something like this!

This fun Valentine Surprise is available for delivery to your Walt Disney World Resort hotel room beginning January 28, 2012. In case you think I’m crazy for suggesting this one for adults, there is an Ears To You Valentine that is REALLY intended for grown-ups over on the Disney Florist website! This one even includes the Little Black Book of Walt Disney World and a few more sweet treats! Go check it out ~ you know you want to see it!

Disney Vacation Club Surprise Welcome!

Can you imagine what this little boy is thinking when he opened the door to his Resort room? Just have a look at those cheek bones and feel the warmth of his smile! I can only imagine how I’d be feeling if it was me!! Wow!!

The Dream Makers are constantly thinking up new ways for guests to add magical experiences to their vacations and this one really takes the cake…or, cookies in this case! Those Mickey footprints you see on the floor leading the way over to Mickey and Pluto? They are actually mouse pads that you can use at home to remind you of that very moment you stepped into your room…and there are plenty for the whole family!

As if owning Disney Vacation Club and knowing that you have guaranteed vacations year after year to The Place Where Dreams Come True wasn’t enough already, you can now add some extra special Pixie Dust to the next time you hear the words “Welcome Home” by getting in touch with a Dream Maker over at the Walt Disney World Florist.

My favorite part about this fabulous In-Room Celebration is that beautiful banner you see hanging on the wall next to the bed. You can get that personalized with the year that your family became Disney Vacation Club Members! I don’t know about you, but I’d definitely bring that on every Disney vacation and display it proudly! Be sure to check out all of the great items included in the DVC Welcome Celebration and plan on it for your next trip Home!

DisneySMMoms Celebration 2011: A Day of Disney’s Magic of Healthy Living ~ Part Two

DisneySMMoms Celebration 2011
A Day of Disney’s Magic of Healthy Living ~ Part Two

After spending a fabulous afternoon playing at EPCOT, we headed over to World Showplace for a special Magic of Healthy Living press event and dinner. I also had the privilege of attending an informative question and answer session with some of the Disney Channel Stars as well as some other folks involved with the MOHL campaign.

While there, we learned that Walt Disney World has fed over 440,000 guests that have a food intolerance of some sort. We also learned that WDW is changing their options in restaurants to offer more healthy choices to guests. Alyson Stoner joked around saying that cake is an important part of a healthy diet. Then on a more serious note, explained that health is not an appearance but a lifestyle, rather than a fad.

There was also a young lady on the stage named Katie Stagliano who had lots to tell us about gardening at home. She was literally a book of knowledge about growing your own vegetables, entertaining kids while teaching them to eat healthy, and using food as a vehicle to talk about history, science, and culture. I had a chance to speak with her after the session and she was truly an amazing girl. She donates a lot of the vegetables she grows to local food kitchens. She even has her own website called Katie’s Krops! You should really check out her site and read her story!

In between the press conference and dinner, we had a chance to mingle with the celebrities. Our kids have been HUGE Wizards of Waverly Place fans for years and they were INSANELY excited to meet and have a picture with Jennifer Stone, who plays Harper on the very popular series. You can tell how excited Zach is simply by his smile, teeth showing and all!

Next, we met Daniel Curtis Lee, who plays Kojo on The Disney Channel’s Zeke and Luther! Sorry about the blurry/dark pics! They were taken on my blackberry with no flash, but, you get the idea!

The tables for dinner looked so beautiful and each had a gorgeous flower bouquet in the center.

This was our menu for dinner:

Heirloom Tomato Water with Basil Essence and White Balsamic

Fregola, Lentils, Quinoa, and Burgundy Amaranth

Watermelon Radish, Rainbow Carrot, and Quick Pickled Cucumber Summer Roll with Ponzu Sauce

Pan-Seared Poulet Rouge Breast with Heirloom Beans

Paired With

Slow Poached US Wild Caught Striped Bass with Preserved Lemon and “EPCOT The Land” Harvested Greens

Mickey Mouse Polenta with Toasted Flaxseed

House Made Multigrain Baguette with Edamame Hummus

I have to admit, when I saw this, I was a bit scared. I didn’t really *get* what most of it was.

Our kids ate the Mickey Mouse Polenta and their carrots but that was about it. My hubby and I picked at some of it, but it wasn’t really our cup of tea. So, we went and grabbed a quick service meal at La Cantina De San Angel on our way out to the Illuminations Dessert Party location, but not before Mickey and his friends came out to play with the Disney Channel Stars for a bit!

After all of the dancing was finished and people were starting to head outside, Molly spotted Kenton Duty who plays Gunther from The Disney Channel’s Shake It Up and made a new buddy for the rest of the evening!

We were excited to go to the special Illuminations Dessert Party where they had all sorts of healthy choices that were really good! Every time I looked for Molly, she was standing in the middle of a group of the Disney Channel Stars, but RIGHT next to Gunther always!

We have always enjoyed Illuminations at EPCOT and this night was especially wonderful! What a great way to end another fabulous Disney Social Media Moms Celebration!

Disclosure: I paid to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. In exchange for my registration fee, I received deeply discounted rates on hotel, park tickets, events, meals, and swag. I am not required nor was I asked to write about the events by Disney or any other party affiliated with the event. Thoughts are 100% my own.

Meet Mickey and Minnie – TOGETHER!

One of my most favorite character experiences was at last year’s Disney Social Media Moms Celebration when I got to meet Mickey and Minnie at the same time! I had never been able to have a picture taken with them together because I’d only seen them before at their respective houses in Toontown at Disneyland in California.

I’m so excited about this new character Meet and Greet with Mickey and Minnie together on Main Street at Walt Disney World! Have a look…
