DisneySMMoms Celebration 2011: Rocking Disney’s Wedding Pavillion!

DisneySMMoms Celebration 2011
Rocking Disney’s Wedding Pavillion!

I’ve told some of you how the vow renewal we witnessed during the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration was my VERY FAVORITE and here, my friends, is a video of the entire thing! It’s incredible and FUN!

I would seriously consider having this “dance party” for my own wedding if I were to do it all over again…our 18-year wedding anniversary is next week! So much fun! What a fabulous memory to create of your wedding day! I just love the non-traditional feel of this.

Leave it to the fine folks at Disney’s Fairytale Weddings & Honeymoons to think of such a clever experience!

What are your thoughts on this? Would you ever step out of the box and have a non-traditional wedding like this?

Disclosure: I paid to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. In exchange for my registration fee, I received deeply discounted rates on hotel, park tickets, events, meals, and swag. I am not required nor was I asked to write about the events by Disney or any other party affiliated with the event. Thoughts are 100% my own.

Let The Memories Begin…More of our Disney Memories!

Some of you may think that I’m out of control with my Disney tendencies, BUT, it is no secret to anyone who knows me that I have an obsession for the Mouse!

I really do love their new “Let the Memories Begin” campaign! Here’s some more of our very fun family memories that have been shared on the site.

So, as you probably already know, I’m really excited about the new “Let The Memories Begin” campaign for Disney Parks. The instant I saw the new site where guests are able to upload photos and videos from their own Disney vacations and experiences, I just had to stop what I was doing and get started! I’ve uploaded a few pics already along with a short video and I’ve been wondering how the process would work and how I would know if they were chosen. Now I know and thought I’d share with you!

I just happened to look in my spam folder today to see if anything that shouldn’t be was in there when low and behold, there were three emails from Disney Destinations! I can hardly believe that those went into my spam folder! Google should be very well aware that that is a no-no. Anyway, each email had a link to pictures that I had posted to their site and I’m really excited that they were chosen! I haven’t seen anything about the video that I submitted yet but I’m thinking that may take a little more time.

“Let the Memories Begin” at Disney Parks in 2011!

I have seen lots of tweets, comments, and blog posts from people that are not too excited about the announcement from Disney Parks yesterday. People have expressed feelings of disappointment, being underwhelmed by it all, or feeling like this was not an announcement that needed its very own press conference. I find it really odd that people thought this announcement was hyped up too much because I don’t feel like it was at all, Disney just simply stated they were having “live coverage of Disney Parks special announcement”, and that’s exactly what they did. Aren’t we always anxious to find out what the next year’s campaign is going to be? In case you missed the live feed, click here to watch it.

I love the new “Let the Memories Begin” campaign. I remember quite a few years ago at Disneyland, they did something similar where families submitted their personal pictures online and certain ones were chosen to make huge character mosaics that were displayed around the park for a short period of time. It was amazing! In fact, I wish they would ship those over to Walt Disney World and display them there for the year! A couple of our family photos were chosen and, I have to tell you, it was a great feeling to be personally pictured in Disney’s marketing! Here is a picture of a mosaic made with lots of regular photos to give you an idea of how they looked.

I love having the opportunity to add my own pictures and videos, with my own little personal story to go along with each. It’s so cool and such smart marketing. I was in charge of marketing for 11 years at my previous employer and some of our best campaigns were the ones where we got personal with our families’ pictures and stories! I love how Disney is really getting their feet wet with social media. Way to keep up with the times!

Furthermore, I have always trusted the Disney brand. Sometimes changes at the Parks take a bit to get used to, but it always grows on me. That being said, I stayed up until the wee hours last night perusing through the new Let the Memories Begin site and found myself getting teary-eyed with some of the stories, pictures, and videos. For some of them, it would unknowingly be their last time together at Walt Disney World…so sad. Only Disney could make strangers’ personal memories magical to everyone! One of the biggest, most controversial pieces of the whole campaign was that the photos will be projected on Disney Park icons. It was stated that this will be a nightly show, so it won’t be happening the entire evening. I haven’t seen anything stating how long the show will be but everyone will still have opportunities for those nighttime pictures in front of Cinderella Castle at the Walt Disney World resort and the “it’s a small world” attraction at Disneyland. I’m not worried, they always know how to do it right, which is what keeps our family going back!

I’d love to know what you think about the whole new campaign! Let me know by leaving a comment below.
