New Disney Jumping Beans Clothing At Kohl’s

While packing and getting ready to head out to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration in California, I heard about a brand new line of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse themed Disney clothing that was coming our way from Jumping Beans and I was really looking forward to checking it out.

Thanks to Kohl’s and the new Disney apparel by Jumping Beans capsule collection, I was able to pick up some pretty cute pieces for my niece and nephew featuring their favorite Disney Characters. My daughter was thrilled to come with me to help pick out the perfect outfits.

You can tell by the look on my nephew’s sweet little face that he was pretty excited with our choice! He proudly showed off his new threads when he met Mickey Mouse. He’s got that side-eye down pat too! <.< Look out, Mom!

We also picked up a great little outfit for my niece who is also two and a HUGE fan of Minnie Mouse! I can’t wait to hear how excited she is when it arrives in her mailbox!

I was really impressed with the selection at my local store and the quality of the clothes is just what I’ve come to expect from Kohl’s. The back of the little outfit for my niece is just as cute as the front! I absolutely LOVE the little Minnie Mouse detailing on the back pockets! This new playful and practical clothing is available for infants, toddlers, girls 4-6X and boys 4-7 at a great value.

We sure had a lot of fun choosing outfits for the little ones in our family and the great news is, I’m giving away a $50 Kohl’s Gift Card so one of you can go shopping with the little ones in your family!

All you need to do to enter is leave a comment telling me who your favorite Disney Character is! The winner will be chosen and announced on April 23, 2014 at midnight. Good luck!

Epcot Flower and Garden Festival Planting Project With The Kiddos

I’m excited to be heading down to the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL to check out Epcot’s 20th annual International Flower and Garden Festival this week! I’m especially excited about seeing the new topiary additions like the Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters University” addition! The brand new illuminated gardens have me intrigued too, I saw that it’s an extra sprinkling of Pixie Dust to end the evening and you all know how I love Pixie Dust! I really enjoy seeing the entire Park in bloom with all the gorgeous colors everywhere you look. There are so many new things to enjoy this year…I can’t wait!

The [extra silly] kids and I worked on a little planting project in our new Mickey Gnome flower pot too…because we’re festive like that! Take a peek on the video below!

My Global Resort Homes Experience in Kissimmee…

Before my Princess Party Crew adventure, I had never stayed in a Vacation Home near Walt Disney World property and this time I was going with some of my dear blogging buddies! We were all so excited to be sharing this fabulous home and had been looking forward to the trip for months! I was participating in my first runDisney Event too…I’ll tell you about that in my next post.

Our accommodations were at a Global Resort Homes vacation home in the Windsor Palms Resort neighborhood located just 2.5 miles from the gates of Walt Disney World! Exciting, right? I was so glad when we pulled up to see that it was a gated community where an attendant verified who we were before allowing entrance 24 hours a day. We pulled up into the driveway of our home for the week and I couldn’t believe how huge and beautiful it was! We were staying in an awesome 5-bedroom, 3.5 bath, 2800+ square foot home!!!

When we walked in, it was so refreshing to see how open and airy this house was! It was so beautifully decorated too! I could definitely live there, in fact, I told the ladies I wasn’t leaving!

See that red chair in the corner of the living room? That was everyone’s favorite during the entire 5 days! I seriously didn’t want to leave that chair! And what do you think about the giant frames on the wall? That wall went up as high as the ceilings of the 2nd story of the house and I thought it was such a creative way to make the wall look awesome without it being too busy.

So, I told you there were 5 bedrooms, right? Well, each one of them was so beautiful! This home sleeps 12 people and there were only 5 of us, so we each had our very own room! This was my mine…love green and brown together!

My room was actually the 2nd master bedroom with a full bath. The rooms were really spread out nicely in this house and I’m pretty sure that my family and my extended family could stay here quite comfortably without tripping over each other at all!

The kitchen in our house was awesome because they not only had a regular coffee pot, but they also had a Keurig!! I didn’t even think to ask about this before we came down or I would’ve brought some k-cups! Fortunately, one of my roommates brought some awesome coffee and had it ready in the morning before I even crawled out of bed…totally fabulous! I got spoiled. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the dishes (including lots of coffee mugs!!), utensils, and cookware we ever could have needed if we were cooking this time. There was even a grill outside by the pool, so you could really do some grilling if you were so inclined. We just had too many things going on to take advantage of that particular amenity this time.

One of my very favorite things about the stay here was the pool and hot tub right in our own back yard. It was heated and fabulous. It was great to just go right out the sliding glass door in the living room and soak our feet in the hot tub after a day of walking around the Parks. That was gold in my book! We even had a game room right in the garage of the house. The kids would have thoroughly enjoyed that!

Global Resort Homes has nine different communities in the area to choose from with nearly 200 vacation homes. I’m quite certain that there is something for every budget with options from 2-bedroom upscale condos to luxurious 7-bedroom vacation homes. The Windsor Palms Resort neighborhood that we stayed in had a 7,500 square foot clubhouse with a huge community pool, sundeck, and hot tub. There was a variety of recreation and activities for everyone, including a playground, state-of-the-art fitness center, sand volleyball, basketball and tennis courts, video arcade and billiards. They even have a 58-seat movie theater!

Check out this video we made for Global Resort Homes while we were vacationing!

All in all, we had a fantastic stay. The house was very relaxing and it was nice to have complete peace and quiet without having little feet running down the hall outside our door before we were ready. It was also a great “at home” feeling to come in and drop our stuff and have the living room (and private hot tub) to debrief at the end of each day. I’m so glad that we were able to experience vacationing this way. I think this will be a great option for our extended family vacations!

What’s Your Style?

Before my husband and I had children, I always thought it would be so fun to have a little girl that I could dress up in ruffles and ribbons. Well, with our second child, I was blessed with a girl! I’m so glad that I took advantage of getting MY fill with all the pink and girly clothes and accessories because, little did I know, I would only get to “play dress-up” with girly stuff as long as I was in charge of dressing my sassy little girl.

When she was about 3, she was NOT interested in much of anything girly! She wouldn’t even wear a dress! It’s so funny because from the minute she was born, she was not interested in having her hair up AT ALL. Any time I ever put it up in cute little scrunchies that matched her outfit, she’d rip them right out of her hair in an instant. I knew back then that she had a style all her own and I’ve always let her go with it.

I distinctly remember one time where she had on pink camouflage capris and insisted on wearing a black and white striped shirt with them. I was horrified that she wanted to wear that combination to school! But I chose not to have that battle with her. As long as the clothes were clean, I didn’t care what she wore! I did let her teacher know that she was very creative with her choice of clothing. LOL!

After a couple of years, fun things started happening in the fashion industry. The clothes that were coming out were sort of funky. There were different patterns and colors that just went together, even though they didn’t really go together. My daughter was ecstatic that “they” finally figured out her style! She was the girl who wore a skirt with leggings underneath them that were totally different from the shirt she wore. She even wore socks that didn’t match because she thought it was cool! Now we have Little Miss Matched, which, by the way, she thought it was her idea first!

We start school a week from today and I am so excited about school shopping! She’s gone through a couple of years of not wanting to wear jeans at all but finally this year, she is in to jeans! I’m selfishly excited, I’ll admit it. Everything goes with jeans! It’s going to be really fun shopping this year for school clothes for my little fourth grader! She can’t wait and neither can I! It’s always fun seeing how her taste and sense of style changes each year!

How do your kids embrace their individuality with fashion? Let me know in the comment section!

10 Tips on Making Life Easier & More Efficient while On The Go

10 Tips on Making Life Easier and

More Efficient while On The Go

I don’t know about you, but my time is a hot commodity these days. I am always looking for ways to save time and keep things fun in our on-the-go summer lives here in Savannah!

1. If you have kids, you need to invest in portable DVD players for your car! They’ve saved our lives for long [and short] road trips. We keep our DVD box in the car permanently so that we never forget it. Thanks to live-streaming, we don’t need them at home much any more.

2. We live by the beach and keep all of our beach supplies packed in our vehicle so they’re ALWAYS ready to go at a moments notice. We rinse everything before we leave the beach so it’s always clean when it’s in the van.

3. Always keep a handful of plastic grocery bags in your glove box and have one hanging on the arm rest to use as a garbage. Kids’ garbage seems to multiply quickly!

4. Have your kids keep a travel backpack that’s always ready to go. Our kids keep their handheld gaming systems and games in there with the chargers. Our younger one keeps crayons and a pad of paper in her backpack. We let them pack their own so they have what they want!

5. Road munchies are a MUST! We like to bring chewy granola bars in the car with us to fill in the cracks between meals. We choose the chewy ones because they don’t [usually] make a big mess in the car!

6. Always keep a list with you! I keep separate ongoing lists for different stores I frequent. One of the things on my list are the sizes of all the air-conditioning filters we have in our house because I’m always at the store when I realize we need them!

7. Ask for help! If your kids are old enough and capable of helping you get ready, have them give you a hand! I love it when kids take the initiative to help out when they’re a little older and starting young gets them thinking about it early.

8. Use your smartphone! It’s really the best thing ever! You’ve heard me talk about my online calendar in a previous post, sync it with your smartphone and your world will be a better place. I still run into people that don’t think they need one, but trust me, THEY DO!!

9. Keep a box of baby wipes in your car! Even though you’ve done all the prep work for these great road trips, you’re going to need to be prepared for those unexpected messes!

10. Sometimes you run into things that are a little more expensive because they are REALLY convenient. Every now and then, spend the extra money for the convenience and spend the extra time with your family! You’ll be really happy you did!

The biggest thing that keeps me on the go is my coffee! I’m a huge coffee fan from Seattle and I have to tell you, I am pretty excited about these new Seattle’s Best Iced Lattes! They are the official latte of pretty much everything, great for any time or place for us busy on-the-go coffee drinkers, especially road trips! You want to try one, don’t you? Well, here’s a coupon for $1.50 off a 4-pack to get you started. Go ahead and try them and let me know what you think in the comment section!

It’s low calorie: Just 130 calories per can.

About Seattle’s Best Coffee

As coffee blenders and roasters since 1970, we’ve seen a lot come and go. We went from a tiny shop on the Seattle waterfront to being declared Seattle’s Best Coffee in a local competition. In 2003, we joined the Starbucks family which has allowed us to place more resources into further honing our special way of crafting delicious, impossibly smooth coffee. Every step of the process, from coffee cherry to your cup, is managed to fit our exacting standards and our premium approach to coffee. Now, we’re making it easier to find your perfect coffee with our new Level System.

Top Ten Time-Saving Tips For Busy Moms

Top Ten Time-Saving Tips For Busy Moms

When I was a new mom, I used to look at parents I worked with and think, “how do they have the time to get it all done?”. Now that I have a 13-year old and a VERY BUSY 9-year old, I get it…all moms are busy moms! I thought I would share my top ten tips for saving time that help keep me on task and get everything I need to get done DONE every week, with some help from Dad and the kids!

1. I plan out our meals with the family on the weekend so we know what we’re having each day. We account for the leftovers too so we can make something completely different with them on another day.

2. I grocery shop once a week in the earlier part of the morning WITHOUT my kids!

3. I top off my gas tank when I’m done shopping because the gas station is right in the same parking lot.

4. I have a poster on our fridge with a daily “chore list” for everyone in the family because a little mess to clean up daily is much better than a huge mess on the weekend. If they don’t clean it as good as you, who cares? They’ll learn!

5. I make lots of crock-pot meals that are started in the morning and cook for 8 hours saving the evening time for homework and pool time!

6. I plan my days so that I can run errands together that are close to each other not only saving on time, but fuel too!

7. I keep an online calendar that also downloads to my smart phone so I know where I’m going and what I’m doing even when I’m not at home. I don’t know how I EVER lived without it!

8. I am sure to have “me time” at some point each day, because if I don’t, I’m no good at multi-tasking at all and that doesn’t help any of us!

9. When school is in session, I have the kids pick out their clothes and pack up their book bags before they go to bed so they don’t have to get up so early.

10. I make a different breakfast casserole on Sundays and wrap it in individual pieces for breakfast so the kids can just microwave it and not have to sit and try to figure out what to have in the morning

I’d sure love it if you’d share your strategies in the comments section below because I can always use some fresh new ideas for saving time!
